Syllabus

Description

Take a virtual tour of New York City through the exploration of famous New York landmarks and institutions! Participating teachers will explore New York City, one of the most attractive places in the world, sharing their expertise by creating interesting learning activities in a supportive community.

Using the city’s cultural centers, historic events, and architecturally unique buildings, teachers will develop virtual visits to venues in New York City that will introduce learners to New York and engage them in intensive research on the Internet.

This online course will provide language teacher/participants with an overview of the unique design components for online instruction, give them an opportunity to explore various online tools and experience different interactions in individual and collaborative projects in teaching and learning.

Hands-on activities, comprehensive analysis of different projects, and extensive discussions on each topic are geared towards having teachers obtain first-hand experiences so that they familiarize themselves with online instructional tools (hyper-texts, sharing sources, asynchronous forums, synchronous chat, voice files, video clips, blogs, and wikis).

Target Audience

This course is designed for language teachers who want to develop online activities. While there is no formal prerequisite before taking this EVO session, it is recommended that participants have basic computer skills and that they have Internet access. Those who have no previous experience using web devices, chat, asynchronous forum, and uploading videos to Youtube are responsible for learning these functions individually.
